Places Business Account

Create a Places Business Account, add a place you own or manage, and understand exactly what the account does and does not prove.

What a Places Business Account does and does not prove

A Places Business Account is a lightweight, mandatory profile you need before you can add, claim, verify, or manage a place on Stitch. Creating one only asks for a contact name, your role (owner, manager, employee, agency, or other), a contact email, and optionally a phone number, organization name, website, and city/state.

Stitch does not ask for tax IDs, Social Security numbers, EINs, incorporation documents, banking information, or government IDs to create a Places Business Account. But the account by itself is not legal proof that you own a business — it's a gate you pass through before attempting to claim or add a place. Actually claiming a place still requires ownership verification in most cases (see Verify Ownership).

How to create a Places Business Account

You're prompted to create a Places Business Account the first time you try to add a place, claim a place, or edit a place you don't yet manage.

  1. From a place profile or the Places tab, tap Add a Place or Claim This Business.
  2. If you don't have a Places Business Account yet, you'll be taken to the account creation screen.
  3. Enter your contact name and contact email (required), and optionally your phone number, role, organization/business name, website, and city/state.
  4. Check both boxes confirming you'll only manage places you're authorized to manage and that you agree to the Places Business Terms, then tap Continue.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code sent to your contact email to verify it.
  6. If you provided a phone number, you'll be offered an optional phone verification step — you can complete it or skip it for now.

How to add a place you own or manage

Once you have an active Places Business Account, you can add a new place directly from the Places tab.

  1. Open the Places tab and tap Add a Place (or the + button).
  2. Enter the business name, category, phone number, website, and address.
  3. As you type, Stitch checks for existing places that already match — this prevents duplicate listings (see below).
  4. If no match is found, submit the listing. It's created as a manually created, unverified place until you complete ownership verification.

Duplicate prevention

If a place with a matching name, category, and location already exists — whether it's a Google-backed place or one added by someone else — you can't create a duplicate for it. Instead, you'll be prompted to claim the existing place and verify ownership, or, if you can't verify, to suggest an edit to correct its details.

Editing a place you own

Once you're the verified owner or manager of a place, open its profile and you'll see edit controls for its name, category, description, phone, website, hours, and photos. Changes you make update the listing on Stitch directly. You can also review and act on suggested edits submitted by other users from the same screen — see Suggest an Edit.

Deleting a manually created place

If you added a place manually and it should not exist — for example, it was added in error or turns out to be a duplicate — you can delete it directly from its profile's management options.

Google-backed places can't be deleted this way, even by a verified owner, because they reflect a real-world location that Google independently indexes. If a Google-backed place shouldn't exist (permanently closed, fraudulent, or a duplicate), report it instead so Stitch can review it.

Business Plus

Stitch may offer an enhanced tier for business owners called Business Plus in the future. It is not fully available yet, so any mention of it describes what it may include when available, not a feature you can use today.
